Comparison of Noise Radius for Airboats and Other Noise Sources

Mapping noise radius is a great way to visualize just how much noise airboats make compared to other common noise sources.   The airboats referenced are actual boats operated in Maine, with noise data taken from the Maine Warden Service test conducted in 2020.   

Keep in mind that loudness doubles for every increase of 10 decibels (e.g. 80 db is twice as loud as 70 db).

Also, consider that many towns and cities prohibit use of a power lawn mower (last figure below) during nighttime and early morning hours.
